Prizemoney Boost for Women at the Hottest 7s

The Northern Territory Rugby Union have announced a substantial boost in Prizemoney for the Women’s component of the 2017 Hottest 7s in the World.

Women’s 7s Teams will be competing for a Prize Pool of $24,000, an increase of $15,000 from this year’s tournament.

The “Jabiru” Champion will now earn $12,000 which is an increase of one hundred percent to the amount won by Tribe 7s earlier this year.

The runner-up will take home $5,000.

The Semi Finalists will share $5000 when they play for third position with the winner of that game collecting $3,000.

The “Jacana”  which is effectively a play-off for fifth will receive $1500 and the loser pockets $500.

Australian Women’s 7s Coach Tim Walsh has indicated many of his Olympic Gold Medal winning team will be competing at the Darwin Event in January.

Total Prizemoney for the Event will be $80,000 with increase to the Women’s component made possible by the continued support of the Northern Territory Government.

The Two Day Tournament will be played at Land Rover Rugby Park on 21-22 January.
